Modern art refers to the artistic works created in the period from 1860s to 1970s, denoting the style and philosophy of art present during that era. Modern artists experimented with new ways of perception, fresh new ideas. Abstraction is a characteristic very much common in modern art; paintings of mixed up shapes and colors and seemingly absence of any lay-out from the artist. Artistic works after that period including recent artistic productions are called Contemporary or Postmodern art. If one wishes to look at famous modern artworks, then one should go to a modern art museum.
There are many modern art museums found throughout Europe and America like The Andy Warhol Museum, Museum of Modern Art, New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin and many others. Some of the modern artworks in these museums have unnamed artists, but you can also find pieces of modern art by famous artists like Francis Bacon, Sam Francis, Salvador Dali.
In going to a modern art museum, one may not see too many traditional canvasses of paintings appearing on walls with exquisitely detailed pictures and gifted work. Inside a modern art museum, one might even see a lot of nonsense rubble, asking you might ask why this is considered art. In modern art, one must try and interpret what is seen from it. What does one see, feel or think about the work, emphasize with the artist who made it.
