America’s history is so vast and complex, almost each century and each decade has special highlights, breakthroughs that one were to simply neglect just one, America’s history would have been lessened and not given enough credit. It can be done through research; there’s enough printed material available to cover all significant events of American History past to present. There are also compendiums of American History like The Journal of American History, published four times annually. But you can skip all of that and instead just go to the American History museum.

The National Museum of American History collects, preserves and displays the heritage of the United States in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific and military history. Among the items on display are the original Star-Spangled Banner and even Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. It is administered by the Smithsonian Institution and located in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall.
