Society is becoming more and more open and tolerant of other people’s choices when it comes to decisions that were once considered as taboo in the past. Choices like divorce, premarital sex, abortion and even gay parenting. It is safe to say that even if society is a little more open now, it will still take a while before everybody can fully accept each other’s differences.
There are a lot of conflicting studies about gay parenting and how this affects the well-being of their children. Some say that children who grow up with a mother and a father will function better and grow up better adjusted as compared to children who were raised by same sex parents. They say that children who grew up in a same sex household has greater tendencies of becoming homosexuals themselves.
Ultimately, be it the traditional father and mother setting or gay parenting, the children’s well-being must come first. It would be unfair to raise a child in a household who is not responsible and nurturing enough for the child to fully realize his fullest potential. When talking about a family, the parents must also realize that it is their responsibility to bring up a child in the best possible environment.
