One of the professions highly in demand today is the medical nurse. The medical nurse is a practitioner of nursing, the healthcare profession which focuses on detail-oriented care of individuals, families, and communities in attaining, maintaining, and recovering optimal health and functioning. A medical nurse, in the process of providing care for patients may work independently or cooperatively with other medical staff like doctors, providing anything from basic care to serious trauma care and surgery.
In popular culture, the medical nurse is often portrayed by a beautiful woman whose feminine touch soothed and augmented the medical functions that came with the profession. But sometimes, female medical nurses are also depicted strong-willed individuals who remain calm and composed despite desperate situations. In the movie Pearl Harbor, the actress Kate Beckinsale was a medical nurse assigned at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii when the Japanese bombarded it. Kate together with her fellow medical nurses played a vital role in reducing the number of American casualties through their quick and immediate response to their duties in the height of the Japanese attack. One of the facilities severely damaged was the military hospital, yet through skill, craftiness and resourcefulness, the medical nurses of Pearl Harbor managed to tend to the injured and even functioned almost in par with military doctors. While it was only a movie, it is expected of a medical nurse to be able to discharge his or her function in any situation, normal or emergency situations. For a medical nurse also swore to the Hippocratic Oath, to heal anybody anytime anywhere.
